Ok, where do I even start with this candle!? I couldn’t wait to purchase it as I’ve been a fan of Maison Palo Santo’s candles for some time now. The packaging is SO intentional and beautiful that you almost don’t want to open it but you can’t WAIT to because their candles burn so delicious. This candle is larger than the other ones they have stocked so it sits on my table with this presence that I LOVE. And then it starts burning – I swear my entire BEING shifts once I start to smell it. These guys have figured out candles and I am in love with mine.

Fun Facts

Frankincense was one of the top 3 essential oils used as currency, medicines, and perfumes in biblical times. It is written in the sacred scriptures that one of the wise men gifted baby Jesus Frankincense.

According to a famous Roman historian, the sap from this tree made the Arabians the richest people on earth. By Jesus’s time, it was more valuable than gold. Frankincense alone is responsible for creating the trade routes linking southern Arabia to India, the Mediterranean, and the Silk Road in China.

To harvest Frankincense, the outer bark of the tree is cut with a metal knife, causing the resin to bleed out.

The harvesters return a few weeks later to gather the resin tears that have flowed from the tree, sort them into different grades, and store them in caves. These ancient techniques have not changed for millennia.

Frankincense is highly valued for its medicinal powers.

All our resin comes from Dhofar, the most southern governorate of Oman. The coastal mountains provide a barrier, and the clouds and mist are thus confined to the small areas between the mountains and the sea. Frankincense trees grow in both wet and dry areas. Our Frankincense comes from the coast, which means a black resin and spicier notes. Our Frankincense essential oil is guaranteed to be 100% pure, whole, natural, and free from all additives.
